Manufacturing process:

JIS G3466 steel pipes can be manufactured by welding (e.g. resistance welding, automatic arc welding) or seamless processes. Heat treatment is not usually performed.

 

Dimensions and tolerances:

(SHS)Square tube size range:          20×20 mm - 350×350 mm,          wall thickness 1.2 mm - 12.5 mm.

(RHS)Rectangular tube size range: 30×20 mm - 400×200 mm,          wall thickness 1.2 mm -12 mm.

 

Dimensional tolerance:

Tolerance is ±1.5 mm when the side length is ≤100 mm, tolerance is ±1.5% when the side length is > 100 mm.

 

Economy and strength advantage:

Compared to solid steel, JIS G3466 steel pipe has the same bending and torsional strength and is lighter in weight, making it an economical material.

JIS G3466 standard steel pipe is divided into STKR400 and STKR490 two grades, respectively, with different strength and toughness.
