    Brief Introduction

    JIS G3466 Steel Pipe

    Standard: JIS G3466

    Grade: STKR 400, STKR 490

Surface Treatment: Bare Finish, Painting, Oiling, Galvanzation, 3PE, FBE coated......

    Manufacturing process:

JIS G3466 steel pipes can be manufactured by welding (e.g. resistance welding, automatic arc welding) or seamless processes. Heat treatment is not usually performed.

    Dimensions and tolerances:

    (SHS)Square tube size range:          20×20 mm - 350×350 mm,          wall thickness 1.2 mm - 12.5 mm.

(RHS)Rectangular tube size range: 30×20 mm - 400×200 mm,          wall thickness 1.2 mm -12 mm.

    Dimensional tolerance:

Tolerance is ±1.5 mm when the side length is ≤100 mm, tolerance is ±1.5% when the side length is > 100 mm.

    Economy and strength advantage:

Compared to solid steel, JIS G3466 steel pipe has the same bending and torsional strength and is lighter in weight, making it an economical material.

    Application

Steel pipes as defined in JIS G3466 are primarily used for general structural purposes, including but not limited to the following applications:

    Construction and civil engineering:

JIS G3466 steel pipes are commonly used in building structures, Bridges, industrial plants, support structures of high-rise buildings, etc.

    Machinery and equipment manufacturing:

It can be used to manufacture frames, supports and other structural components of machinery and equipment.

    Infrastructure construction:

It is also widely used in infrastructure-related fields, such as guardrail, bridge pile and other scenarios.

    Marine and automotive parts:

The standard steel pipes can also be used in the manufacture of ship internal structures and automotive parts.

    Other uses:

including the support of solar equipment, auxiliary parts of steel structure buildings, etc.

    Advantages

JIS G3466 Steel Pipe (JIS G3466 standard steel pipe) has the following advantages over other steels:

    High strength & Good toughness

JIS G3466 standard steel pipe is divided into STKR400 and STKR490 two grades, respectively, with different strength and toughness. The tensile strength and yield strength of STKR400 are ≥400 MPa and ≥245 MPa respectively. The tensile strength of STKR490 is ≥490 MPa, and the yield strength is ≥325 MPa. This high strength and good toughness make it excellent in structural applications.

    High dimensional accuracy

Pipes of this standard perform well in terms of dimensional accuracy. For example, when the side length is ≤100 mm, the tolerance is only ±1.5 mm; When the side length is > 100 mm, the tolerance is ±1.5%. This highly accurate dimensional control enables it to better meet design requirements in construction and engineering applications.

    International standard compatibility

JIS G3466 standard pipes have certain compatibility with other international standards (such as ASTM A500, EN 10219-1, etc.) in terms of mechanical properties and chemical composition, which makes them more widely accepted in the global market.

    Good weldability

JIS G3466 steel pipe has excellent weldability, especially STKR400 grade, which is ideal for structural projects requiring extensive welding. This makes it more flexible and efficient during manufacturing and installation.

    Economy and lightweight

Compared to solid steel, JIS G3466 steel pipe provides the same strength while being lighter, making it an economical material. This not only reduces shipping and installation costs, but also reduces the amount of material used.

    Multiple manufacturing processes

The standard pipes can be manufactured by a variety of processes, including electric welding, automatic arc welding, or seamless processes. This variety of manufacturing methods enables it to meet different application scenarios and customer needs.

    Corrosion resistance and surface treatment

JIS G3466 steel pipes can be galvanized according to customer requirements, thus improving their corrosion resistance. This gives it a better service life in wet or corrosive environments.

    Wide range of applications

Due to its high strength, dimensional accuracy and good processing performance, JIS G3466 steel pipes are widely used in construction, civil engineering, machinery manufacturing, shipbuilding and other fields.
