Product Description

Overview
EN 10219 is a European standard that specifies the technical delivery conditions for cold-formed welded structural hollow sections (circular, square, and rectangular) made of non-alloy and fine-grain steels. The S355 grade is a widely used structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa, offering a good balance between strength, weldability, and formability.

The S355J0H and S355J2H are subgrades within the S355 classification, differentiated by their impact toughness at low temperatures and chemical composition.

Applications And Advantages
Applications
Both grades are used in load-bearing structures where high strength and toughness are required:

● S355J0H:
Buildings, bridges, general construction (where the load - bearing requirements are relatively high but the environmental temperature conditions are not extremely severe.).

● S355J2H:
Offshore structures, winter construction, and harsh environments (need to operate in harsh environments with low temperatures and high - impact loads.).

Advantages
● High Strength and Ductility : The combination of high yield strength and adequate ductility allows S355 steel to be used in a wide range of structural applications. It can support heavy loads while still being able to undergo some deformation without fracturing.
● Good Weldability : S355 steel has relatively good weldability, which means it can be easily joined to other steel components using various welding processes. This is important for the construction of complex structures.
● Consistent Quality : The EN 10219 standard ensures that the hollow sections made of S355 steel meet strict quality requirements. This consistency in quality is crucial for the reliability and safety of the structures built with this material.

Manufacturing & Processing
Cold-formed hollow sections (welded tubes, profiles).

● Weldability: Excellent (preheating usually not required for thin sections).

● Formability: Good for bending and machining.

Compliance & Standards
● EN 10219-1: Technical delivery conditions.

● EN 10219-2: Tolerances, dimensions, and sectional properties.

● EN 10025-2: Equivalent hot-rolled S355 grades (reference for material properties).

Conclusion
S355J0H and S355J2H are high-strength, cold-formed steels ideal for structural applications. The choice depends on operating temperature:

● S355J0H for standard conditions.
S● 355J2H for colder environments requiring enhanced toughness.
Both grades ensure durability, weldability, and cost efficiency in construction and heavy engineering.
