Product Description

Overview
EN 10210 is a European standard that specifies the technical delivery requirements for hot-finished structural hollow sections (circular, square, rectangular, or elliptical) made of non-alloy and fine-grain steels. The S275 grade is a common structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 275 MPa. Two key variants under this standard are:

● S275J0H – Impact tested at 0°C.
● S275J2H – Impact tested at -20°C.
These grades are widely used in construction, bridges, and other load-bearing structures due to their good weldability, strength, and toughness.

Chemical Composition (Nominal Values, % By Weight)
The chemical composition of S275J0H and S275J2H must comply with EN 10210-1. Key elements include:

Element

S275J0H (Max %)

S275J2H (Max %)

C≤ 0.20≤ 0.20
Si--
Mn≤ 1.50≤ 1.50
P≤ 0.035≤ 0.035
S≤ 0.030≤ 0.030

Note: S275J2H has stricter limits on P and S for improved toughness at low temperatures.

Mechanical Properties
The mechanical properties (EN 10210-2) for hot-finished hollow sections are:

Property

Impact Toughness:
● S275J0H: Tested at 0°C (minimum 27 Joules).
● S275J2H: Tested at -20°C (minimum 27 Joules), making it suitable for colder climates.

Manufacturing And Testing
● These steel grades are typically manufactured through hot rolling processes.
● Mandatory tests include chemical analysis, tensile testing, impact testing, and dimensional inspections.
● For welded products, non-destructive testing (NDT) of the welds is also required

Applications
● Construction: Buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.

● Industrial Structures: Support columns, crane girders.

● Transportation: Chassis components (if specified).

S275J0H:Suitable for general structural applications such as steel frames for buildings, industrial equipment manufacturing, and infrastructure engineering.
S275J2H:Due to its higher impact resistance at lower temperatures, it is suitable for applications in colder environments or where higher toughness is required.

Conclusion
S275J0H and S275J2H offer a balance of strength, ductility, and toughness, with S275J2H providing better low-temperature performance. They are ideal for structural applications requiring durability and weldability.
