Product Description

EN 10219 S275J2H is a non-alloy steel grade commonly used for structural applications, particularly in the construction of buildings, bridges, and other engineering projects where structural steel is required.

Mechanical Properties

The mechanical properties of S275JRH steel grade are critical for its structural applications:

  • Yield Strength : Minimum 275 MPa
  • Tensile Strength: 430-580 MPa
  • Elongation (A%): 23% for thickness ≤16mm, reduced for thicker sections
  • Impact Energy : 27 J at room temperature (20°C)

S355 has a higher yield and tensile strength compared to S235 and S275, indicating greater strength and load-bearing capacity. S355 also has lower elongation compared to S235, reflecting a trade-off between strength and ductility.

Chemical Composition

S355 has lower phosphorus and sulfur content compared to S235 and S275, which can contribute to better weldability and toughness. The carbon content is also slightly higher in S355, which generally results in higher strength.

Applications

S275JRH is used in various structural applications due to its balanced mechanical properties and good formability:

  • Structural Steel Pipes: Commonly used for structural and mechanical components where good weldability and formability are needed.
  • Construction: Used in the construction of buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Engineering Projects: Employed in subway projects and other engineering projects that require structural steel.

S355 offers higher strength and toughness compared to S235 and S275, making it suitable for more demanding applications, especially in colder climates. S235 is often used for less demanding applications where cost is a factor, while S275 provides a balance between strength and ductility for a wide range of applications.

Advantages

S275JRH offers several advantages that make it suitable for a wide range of applications:

  • Excellent Mechanical Properties: S275JRH has a high yield strength and tensile strength, providing excellent performance in various engineering applications.
  • Ease of Processing and Welding: S275JRH is known for its good workability and weldability, facilitating processing and assembly on-site.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: As a non-alloy steel, S275JRH is often more cost-effective compared to alloy steels while still offering good strength and durability.

S275J2H is a versatile non-alloy steel grade with well-balanced mechanical properties, making it suitable for a wide range of structural and engineering applications, particularly those that require low-temperature impact resistance.
