Product Description

Briefly Introduce
STKR400 and STKR490 are both carbon steel square and rectangular tubes for general structure, conforming to the JIS G3466 standard. STKR400 has a maximum carbon content of 0.25%, with a yield strength of at least 245 N/mm² and a tensile strength of at least 400 N/mm², making it suitable for a wide range of structural applications. STKR490, on the other hand, has a lower maximum carbon content of 0.18% and higher minimum yield and tensile strengths of 325 N/mm² and 490 N/mm² respectively, offering greater strength for high-stress structural components. Both materials have good weldability and are widely used in civil engineering, architecture, and other structural fields.

Carbon (C)0.250.18
Silicon (Si)-0.55
Manganese (Mn)-1.5
Phosphorus (P)0.040.04
Sulfur (S)0.040.04

Carbon (C): Lower carbon content in STKR490 (0.18% max) compared to STKR400 (0.25% max) generally results in better weldability and ductility. This makes STKR490 more suitable for applications requiring extensive welding and forming processes.
Silicon (Si) and Manganese (Mn): The presence of these elements in STKR490 (up to 0.55% Si and 1.50% Mn) can enhance the strength and hardenability of the steel, making it more suitable for high-strength applications.

Yield and Tensile Strength: STKR490 has higher minimum yield and tensile strengths compared to STKR400, making it more suitable for applications that require higher load-bearing capacity and structural integrity.
Elongation: Both grades have the same minimum elongation, indicating similar ductility and ability to withstand deformation before failure.
Advantages

STKR400:

● Cost-Effective: Lower carbon content and less stringent chemical composition requirements make it more cost-effective for applications where high strength is not critical.
● Good Formability: Suitable for applications requiring extensive forming and bending processes due to its higher ductility.
STKR490:

● High Strength: Higher yield and tensile strengths make it suitable for applications where high load-bearing capacity is required.
● Good Weldability: Despite its higher strength, STKR490 maintains good weldability, making it suitable for complex structures and applications requiring extensive welding.
● Versatility: Wide range of applications in construction, machinery, transportation, and marine engineering due to its high strength and good mechanical properties.

Applications
STKR400:

● General Structural Use: Suitable for applications where moderate strength and good formability are required, such as light-duty construction and simple structural frameworks.
● Building and Civil Engineering: Used in non-critical structural components like scaffolding, light-duty supports, and general construction applications.
STKR490:

● High-Strength Applications: Ideal for applications requiring higher strength and durability, such as heavy-duty construction, industrial machinery frames, and structural components in buildings and bridges.
● Mechanical and Transportation: Used in the manufacturing of mechanical parts, transportation equipment, and structural components where high strength and good weldability are essential.

STKR400 is more suitable for general structural applications where moderate strength and good formability are required.

STKR490 is ideal for high-strength applications requiring higher load-bearing capacity and good weldability, such as heavy-duty construction and industrial machinery.

Both grades are widely used in the construction and manufacturing industries, with STKR490 offering higher strength and versatility for more demanding applications.
