Product Description
MILD STEEL ERW PIPE (Mild steel Resistance Welding pipe) is a low carbon steel pipe manufactured by Electric resistance welding process (Electric Resistance Welding), which is cost-effective and structural strength, and is widely used in construction, machinery, transportation systems and other fields. The following are detailed descriptions from the material characteristics, manufacturing process, technical advantages and application scenarios:

MILD STEEL refers to steel with a carbon content of 0.25% or less, and its characteristics include:
- High strength and toughness: Through cold forming and heat treatment after welding, the tube body has excellent compression and impact resistance, suitable for load-bearing structures.
- Corrosion resistance: The use of clean steel (low sulfur, phosphorus impurities) and galvanized treatment (such as the Philippines project case), can extend the service life.
- Processing adaptability: Low carbon steel is easy to cut, bend and weld to meet customized needs.
Manufacturing process: the core process of high-frequency resistance welding (ERW)
The ERW process enables seamless welding by heating the edge of the steel strip with an electric current. The steps include:
1. Steel strip pretreatment:
The steel strip is levelled, cut and trimmed to ensure that the weld line is aligned.
2. Cold forming and welding:
The steel strip is rolled into a tube through a multi-channel roll, and the edge is heated to a molten state by high-frequency current (or induction coil, that is, HFI technology), and a continuous weld is formed under pressure.
3. Post-processing process:
• Deburring: Remove internal and external weld protrusions to ensure uniform pipe wall;
• Heat treatment: Anneal the weld area to restore ductility;
• Cold sizing: Calibrate pipe diameter and improve surface finish;
• Testing and coating: The quality is ensured by hydraulic test, ultrasonic inspection, etc., and the outer surface is coated with anti-corrosion layer.

Comparison with other processes
The weld area of ERW tubes used to be weak in strength compared to seamless tubes, but modern technologies such as HFI welding and heat treatment have significantly improved their reliability and tighter dimensional tolerances. Compared with submerged arc welding (LSAW), ERW is more suitable for mass production of small and medium diameter pipelines.
